Jewish Medical Initiative Foundation
Where the
humanity of medicine
meets
the soul of Judaism
Welcome to the Jewish Medical Initiative Foundation.
Inspired by our Jewish background, we, as passionate Jewish physicians/paramedics work daily for the well-being of our fellow human beings. Because the medical and Jewish worlds increasingly have a connection with each other, the Jewish Medical Initiative Foundation was founded.
The goal of the organization is to improve and stimulate the quality of Jewish life. We do this by organizing various activities where the Jewish and the medical meet.
Here at the JMI foundation (Jewish Medical Initiaitive) we have an (orthodox-jewish) inclusive signature. This means that everyone is welcome and that halachically responsible consideration is given to matters such as kosher food, shabbat/holidays etc.
Please take a look around and if you have any questions or would like to send us a message, please feel free to contact us using one of the options on the contact page.
Statutory objectives:
The foundation aims to:
a) improving and promoting Jewish life in general in the (para)medical field
b) making Jewish traditions accessible and maintaining them in a medically responsible manner.
Main points of current policy plan:
- initiating, facilitating and stimulating initiatives within the framework of the Foundation's objective;
- establishing contacts and ties with relevant Jewish and medical organizations at home and abroad to promote the Foundation's objectives;
- raising funds to promote the objectives of the Foundation.
Remuneration policy
The board and management carry out their foundation activities pro bono
ANBI
The Foundation has had ANBI status since September.

Project 1
Healthy Jewish food and exercise
Living in good health for up to 120 years is a common Jewish wish.
To promote a long and healthy life, we organize a program together with the Macabbi sports association and nutritionists, in which healthy exercise, healthy kosher food and education are central.
More information coming soon!
Project 2
At the JMI Foundation we believe that a traditional brit milah should be a positive start to a Jewish life.
To make the brit mila a meaningful and valuable moment we combine orthodox halachic principles with our medical expertise. By combining both aspects we can act carefully and responsibly.
Our team consists of BIG registered doctors/nurses and orthodox rabbinates.
For more information please contact us.
Project 3
The 21st century brings challenges for people with a Jewish identity.
For example, consider traditional Jewish life in a non-traditional society, Israelis outside Israel, anti-Semitism, etc.
During a Jewish well circle we come together in an informal setting to further shape these themes in a responsible way. Depending on the needs of the group, in addition to attention to substantive themes, attention can be given to variations of meditation/yoga etc.
Project 4
Scientific research
Every year we organize together with the Society for Jewish Science a day where young Jewish scientists can share their research with other interested parties. For more information please contact us via our contact page or via the contact details at the bottom of the website.
Project 5
Jewish Medical Ethics
In 2025 we intend to organize a lecture series on Jewish Medical Ethics.
More information will follow!
Project 6
First aid courses
Together with motivated volunteers we are looking into whether we can set up a first aid course in collaboration with the Oranje Kruis for young Jewish parents in and around the house and one for synagogue visitors with specific attention for the older population. As soon as we have more information we will publish this.
